Week Commencing 26th July 2021

A round up of our photos of Dembe over the last 2 weeks!

Monday 26th July

Not an ideal start to the holiday having to get up at the crack of dawn as we are having our boiler replaced and two radiators. Dembe is very keen to let the engineer know that he rules the roost and barks every time he catches sight of him. Thankfully Dembe is very good and we don’t need to put him on a lead he is more than happy to just chill out on the sofa.

Tuesday 27th July

More of the same, today should be the last day of the boiler installation and the replacement of the radiators. Dembe is still barking at the engineer but is happy to be petted by him. Dembe had us in stitches when the radiator in the lounge was being replaced and he had to jump up and look over the back of the sofa to see what the guy was doing!

Wednesday 28th July

Well yesterday should have been the last day for the boiler but there was a mishap, so we will now have a further 3 early morning wake ups whilst the damaged wall is put right. Can’t fault the company but the early mornings are killing me. Dembe is also struggling as he isn’t a morning dog although he is enjoying his countless walk around the block.

Today is the first day he hasn’t barked at the engineer however he more than made up for it with the Decorator.

The engineer is here for a few hours whilst he commissions the boiler, by the time he leaves he and Dembe have had several play sessions on the floor. Dembe has been intrigued with his Henry Hoover.

Thursday 29th July

Dembe is missing his dad today as he has gone down to see his mum and help her with a few jobs around the house. The first morning we haven’t had to get up at the crack of dawn! What a luxury.

Friday 30th July

Another early morning….deep joy. Dembe is loving having his dad home though. Lot of walks and play time with his dad.

Saturday 31st July

Tonight all three of us are off to a wedding reception, Dembe was specifically invited, which was really nice a he has only ever been left once with a friend of ours for 20 minutes when he was a puppy. We have got him a Tuxedo to wear.

Dembe after basically ignoring me from Sunday to Friday due to his dad being home has suddenly realised that I am here and now is making up for the fact I have been playing second fiddle all week. So today I have been brought a lot of toys to show me how much I mean to him.

Dembe stole the show this evening, arriving at the wedding with his Tuxedo on. Everyone wanted to come up and stroke him and find out about him. The staff at the venue treated him like a prince getting him countless bowls of water. The official photographer came and got a load of Photos of Dembe as well for the Happy Couple. He was so well behaved we were really proud of him as it has been age since we have done any work with him in that kind of environment. We stuck to our obedience training and as soon as we got to the venue practised calm giving to drop his energy levels down. He spent a lot of the evening either playing with people we knew from Jays work or lying down at the top of the stairs waiting for someone to drop their food a they made their way back to their seats from the food van!

Sunday 1st August

How is it August already?

Dembe is absolutely shattered after his late night last ( we were home by 8.30pm and in bed by 9pm).

We were all pretty knackered if I am honest!

Week Commencing 2nd August 2021

Monday 2nd August

We are having a few lazy days after our week of early starts. Dembe doesn’t mind as long a he gets lots of walks around the block and a good walk on the common twice a day.

Daddy took some photos of Dembe out on his walk on the common this afternoon.

Dembe was very keen to have some of his dads cheese this evening and sat like a very good boy in the kitchen.

Tuesday 3rd August

Jay is at his mums again today, he is taking her to a hospital appointment. To ensure that Dembe doesn’t have to wait too long for the toilet , Jay has taken him out multiple times before leaving. He even had a second long walk on the common just before Jay left. He was quite happy to sleep all afternoon, whilst his daddy was gone.

Despite our best laid plans the hospital was running hours behind. We had anticipated that Jay would be back by 5pm ready to take Dembe out for another walk. However at 5pm Jay messaged me again to say he was at the pharmacy picking up his mums meds and his mum was having an x-ray. He had no idea when he would be leaving or getting home. I had to send an SOS message to Leanne and ask her if she would be able to take Dembe out around the block as we really had no clue when Jay would get home. Thank goodness she could as Jay didn’t get home until 7pm. Dembe was such a good boy throughout.

Wednesday 4th August

Our last early morning wake up call today as the decorator is coming to finish the wall, it needs another sand and then a coat of paint. Dembe is on good barking form again luckily the decorator has his own dog and is used to it. He is only here for a few hours, as soon as he goes Jay took Dembe out for a long walk on the Common.

Thursday 5th August

The weather has been crap the last few days, showers and much colder than it should be for this time of year. Dembe doesn’t mind come rain or shine he is always up for a walk on the common. Both he and his dad got soaked today on his walk, daddy stupidly didn’t wear a coat and was soaked through by the time he got back to the car. We popped Dembe’s drying coat on him when we got home.

Friday 6th August

Dembe is full of beans this morning! He decided for the first time ever to pick Cleo the caterpillar up and take her into the kitchen. Then he dragged her outside. He was very proud of himself.

We asked Dembe to bring Cleo back in and he did, his whole body was wagging as he did it making us really laugh. He has over the last two weeks played with Cleo loads.

Today the Digital Print Carolyn a friend of ours got us a present arrived, it is amazing!

We are absolutely thrilled with it!
